Hi! 
My name is Yan Schenkel and I'm a professional crochet toy designer born in Argentina, 
author of the amigurumi books “El mundo de Pica Pau” (The World of Pica Pau), “Animal Friends of Pica Pau 1, 2 & 3”, already printed in more than 10 languages. 
 I studied design and fine arts and I started crocheting while commuting to College, and between classes. 
In 2009 I started mixing my drawings with the three-dimensional crochet technique and that’s how Pica Pau was born. 
Besides working on my toys and designs, I have collaborated with several illustrators, authors, and brands. I have worked on a broad range of projects, from illustrating children’s books over producing and designing children events at MALBA (The Latin American Art Museum of Buenos Aires) to designing for a crochet stop motion ad. I’m a regular contributor to several crochet and craft publications such as Mollie Makes, Köel Magazine,The Sewing Box, Simply Crochet, Inside Crochet and the Zoomigurumi series. 
I also work as a collaborator of several yarn brands with crochet kits, such as MBY and Zollie, in addition to having my own line of cotton yarns with the Danish brand  Hobbii. 
Last but not least, I am a mother of three kids and 4 cats.

Soy  Yan Schenkel y soy diseñadora profesional de personajes al crochet, nacida en Argentina.  Autora de los libros de muñeocs tejidos al crochet (amigurumis) “El mundo de Pica Pau” y “La Banda de Pica Pau 1, 2 y 3”, impresos en más de 10 idiomas.
Estudié diseño y Bellas Artes. Comencé a tejer en los intervalos entre clases y en los viajes a la facultad. En 2009 empecé a mezclar mis dibujos con la técnica tridimensional del crochet y así nació Pica Pau. 
Además de trabajar en mis personajes y diseños, he colaborado con varios ilustradores, autores y marcas. He trabajado en una amplia gama de proyectos, desde la ilustración de libros infantiles hasta la producción y el diseño de eventos infantiles en el MALBA (Museo de Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires) y el diseño de un anuncio de crochet en stop motion. Colaboro habitualmente con varias publicaciones de crochet y manualidades, como Mollie Makes, Köel Magazine, The Sewing Box, Simply Crochet, Inside Crochet y la serie Zoomigurumi.
También trabajo con varias marcas de hilados con kits de crochet, como MBY y Zollie, además de tener mi propia línea de hilados de algodón con la marca danesa Hobbii.
Por último, pero no menos importante, soy madre de tres hijos y cuatro gatos.
